Raised in eastern North Carolina, Carla received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communication Studies from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she served as chapter president of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity for women. While earning her law degree at Campbell University in Buies Creek, she was selected to compete on the ABA Moot Court Team and the National Trial Team. At graduation, she received the Fred O. Dennis Award for outstanding representation of Campbell University School of Law to the community, profession, and public.
Carla practiced at Teague Campbell Dennis & Gorham, LLP in Raleigh for over 15 years, focusing her practice in the areas of workers’ compensation and civil litigation. She was named a “Rising Star” by North Carolina Super Lawyers in 2012 and has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America—Workers’ Compensation from every year from 2013 to 2017.
Outside of work, Carla enjoys cheering for (and yelling at) UNC sports teams, attending country music concerts, volunteering in advisory and leadership roles for Zeta Tau Alpha, boating on eastern North Carolina waters with her husband, and mediating disputes between her daughter, son, and yellow Labrador Retriever.
